Contribution to IOA Meeting
Our acoustics Technical Director Samuel Miller recently attended an Institute of Acoustics review of the new British standard, BS8233:2014, Guidance on Sound Insulation in Buildings and BS4142:2014, Methods for Rating and Assessing Industrial and Commercial Sound, which is a draft document up for public consultation. The meeting, which took place at Edinburgh Napier University, formed part of the consultation process as comments and suggestions from the IOA members present were recorded for feedback into finalising the document.
The presenter was Richard Collman of Acoustical Control Engineers Ltd based in Cambridge. Richard sits on the Technical Sub-Committee (EH/1/3, Residential and Industrial noise), who are partly responsible for the revision of this document. At the end of the meeting, Samuel had the opportunity to speak with Richard, who mentioned he was very appreciative of Xi’s input in driving the discussion forward and stimulating debate.
