Amplitude Modulation (AM) relates to the varying characteristic of wind turbine noise which means that it can cause more annoyance than constant, stable noise of a similar level. Xi offer a service for the measurement and rating of AM and have a wealth of experience in making recommendations and designing solutions for noise and vibration issues in the renewables sector.
As the pandas depart from Edinburgh Zoo, we wanted to take this opportunity to share our story of involvement and how we protected the pandas from stress by designing a soundproof enclosure. Our efforts to accommodate these remarkable creatures have been a privilege. While we bid them farewell, we're proud to have played a part in their stay. This is how we protected the pandas from stress by using advanced sound measurements and Multiphysics simulation.
Xi worked collaboratively with Arrayjet as an R&D partner to develop models in COMSOL Multiphysics using the Solid Mechanics and Computational Fluid Dynamics Modules to better understand microfluidic gasket sealing and fluid flow between the aspirator and printhead modules.

Xi Engineering Consultants measured quantities such as speed, acceleration, suspension displacement, wind speed and tyre pressure of a motorcycle as it was ridden around a pre-determined drive cycle route. The collected data was analysed and used to refine a motorcycle model.
Xi worked with Edge Mobility Ltd to develop a graphical user interface to estimate these requirements for a flexible range of user-defined drive cycles in the area of motorcycle design.
