Alternative Fuels

Xi’s depth of knowledge in engineering, materials, energy production and simulation can be applied to maximise the output of industrial scale generators using alternative fuels, whilst increasing efficiencies, reducing cost and lowering impact

Biomass and Combined Heat and Power (CHP)

The infrastructure needed to produce and operate CHP derived energy can be complex.  Xi’s depth of knowledge in engineering, materials, energy production and simulation can be applied to maximise the output of industrial scale generators whilst increasing efficiencies, reducing cost and lowering impact.

Xi’s experience of working across the utilities sector can help clients explore innovation in: engine combustion chambers, gas or steam powered turbines, heat recovery boilers, absorption chillers, and many more.  Xi can provide help in engineering design and testing as well as expertise in noise, vibration, acoustics and fluid and electromechanical simulation.  This allows us the operating life and costs of technology to robustly assessed.

Hydrogen

Xi’s electronic, mechanical and electromechanical modelling skills help clients to analyse the interface between high pressure fuels and effective energy production. Xi’s Multiphysics approach, using COMSOL software as a tool, can help key parameters to be identified and risks to design to be considered.  Xi can use this information to inform simulations of devices to improve design as part of prototype development. Xi’s team of experts can help clients assess fuel cell design and identify technologically and commercial suitable housing for engines or cells.  Considering factors with Xi such as pressure, fluid flow and how it dynamically interacts with its housing will help clients to design a fit for purpose, reliable and cutting-edge technology.
