Real Living Wage Commitment
At Xi Engineering Consultants, we believe that fair pay is fundamental to fair work.
We are fully committed to the Real Living Wage and ensure that:
- All Xi employees aged 16 and over are paid at least the Real Living Wage, regardless of role, contract type, or location.
- All subcontractors, agency workers, and suppliers directly involved in delivering work for Xi – including those supporting publicly funded projects – must also pay at least the Real Living Wage to their UK-based staff.
- This requirement is verified and evidenced as part of our Vendor Assessment process using our Vendor Assessment Form (F06-1D), which includes Real Living Wage declarations and supporting documentation.
- We maintain an auditable record of compliance for all relevant suppliers and partners.
This commitment reflects our values, our responsibilities as an employer, and our support for high-quality, fair, and sustainable work across Scotland and the UK. Paying the Real Living Wage is central to how we treat our people, how we work with our partners, and how we deliver outcomes for our clients.
Fair work, fair pay, and fair treatment are core to Xi, and we’re proud to uphold these standards in everything we do.
Zero-Hours Contract Policy
At Xi Engineering Consultants, we believe that secure, fair, and predictable work is essential to high-quality engineering and a healthy workplace. For that reason, we do not use zero-hours contracts.
We employ all staff on stable, clearly defined terms that provide:
- predictable hours
- transparent pay
- access to development opportunities
- clear expectations and responsibilities
- the ability to plan life outside of work
Zero-hours arrangements can create uncertainty and undermine fairness. They do not align with our values, our standards, or the way we operate as an engineering consultancy delivering high-quality, evidence-driven work.
We are committed to:
- No use of zero-hours contracts for any Xi employees
- No use of zero-hours agency workers for Xi assignments
- Requiring subcontractors supporting publicly funded work to avoid zero-hours practices where they would undermine Fair Work First principles
This commitment sits alongside our Real Living Wage policy, ensuring everyone working with or for Xi is treated fairly, paid fairly, and supported through secure employment.
Fairness, stability, and professional respect are core to our culture, and zero-hours contracts have no place in it.
