Xi Newsletter October 2018
Lasers, Robots and Pandas? No, not the plot of the latest action film, but rather projects which the team at Xi have been working on over the last year.
Although diverse themes, what ties these projects together is that they each required a sensitive and scientifically rigorous and creative approach. As a group of passionate, curious and diligent engineers who can make physics work for you, the team at Xi is always happy to have a quick chat about your latest project or concept.

Acoustics and Pandas
Xi have been working on a new giant panda habitat at Edinburgh Zoo. The move for the pandas to the current African Plains location is related to the plans for the redevelopment of the former Corstorphine Hospital, which neighbours the zoo. Our Project Engineer, Murray Snaith has been working as part of the panda habitat design team to develop the new enclosure and ensure that the pandas are protected from the noise and vibration associated with building work at the hospital site.
Visit us at the Engineering Design Show!
Come and meet the team! We will be at stand F40 at the Engineering Design show, taking place on the 17-18 October, where you can learn how virtual prototyping can get you to market quicker. You’ll be able try out the multi-award winning Sonoma headphones which were developed using Xi’s simulation services. You’ll be able to appreciate the headphone’s superior quality in the peace and quiet of a soundproof pod, kindly provided by Framery.
If you’re not able to join us at the show, give the team a ring on 0131 290 2250, we often find the best way to really understand a client’s needs is to have a quick chat, our specialist engineers are on hand to discuss your project.
